INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Child Dental Benefit Schedule
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) commenced on 1 January 2014 and provides access to benefits for basic dental services to children aged 2-17 years.
The total benefit entitlement is capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. The CDBS has a means test, and families who are eligible will be sent a notification in the mail. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please call and provide your Medicare Number and we will check for you.
We are a Bulk Billing practice for this Schedule and will only charge the amount set by Medicare. Therefore, there will be no out of pocket cost to you as a patient, as long as the service is covered and there is adequate funds in your available cap.
The CDBS provides individual benefits for a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital.
Patients booking appointments under the CBDS program, please let us know if you have received the appropriate notification. Please feel free to call us today if you have any further questions about this Schedule.
